Cathryn Neracher grew up in Garden City Michigan where she graduated high school in 1989. She went on to graduate from the University of Michigan (1999—B.A. Political Science) and from there she graduated from the Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2002, where she was elected as Student Bar Association President. Upon graduating, Cathryn started her own business doing live trivia in bars and restaurants in over 100 locations across the State of Michigan. Her company also does fundraising, private parties and corporate events. She has been the sole owner since 2006.
Cathryn has a heart for serving her community. She has been a mentor to teen-aged girls at Vista Maria in Dearborn Heights. She served on the Board of Directors of Elevate Detroit, a ministry dedicated to loving on the less fortunate in Detroit. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Triple A Crisis Pregnancy Center, which is devoted to helping pregnant women who are struggling. She served as a missionary in Bogota Colombia, helping a ministry devoted to combating human sex trafficking. Her company helps charities every year by holding collection drives to help those in need.
In 2020, her business like so many others was devastated by Covid-19. Cathryn grew extremely frustrated by listening to story after story of struggling business owners and parents exasperated by confusing and sometimes seemingly illogical local and state mandates being imposed on their children.
Everything that has happened since March of 2020 has inspired Cathryn to run to represent the people in her community. She trusts the people in her district to have the common sense, care and compassion to do what is right for their families and neighbors. If elected to the Michigan House of Representatives, she will listen to the needs and concerns of those in her district and take them to Lansing. She understands a representative’s job is to be a voice of the people, not a voice for herself. Cathryn is a stateswoman, not a politician. Politicians work for the interest of themselves and their political advancement. Statespersons work for the interest of the community they represent. To date, she has no agenda, other than to hear from you so she understands the best way to represent you in Lansing.
